NASHVILLE, Tenn. Titans safety Michael Griffin will host a free youth football camp on Saturday, June 2 at East Literature Magnet School.
The Michael Griffin Football Camp is for players who are 12 to 17 years old. The camp is free to attend, but participants must complete a waiver that requires parental permission. The waiver is available here, or it can be obtained and filled out at the camp. Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay for the camp, which will cover fundamental football skills and drills and include sessions on discipline and teamwork.
Griffin, a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2008 and 2010 seasons), is offering the camp as he prepares for his sixth season with the Titans. He said he feels blessed and fortunate to be able to give back to the community.
I’ve been here for five years, and a lot of times, I’ll support other teammate’s events and charities, but never did anything on my own, Griffin said. Being here for five years, I just decided I’d try to do something and I had a coach ask me.
Griffin has started 73 games and played in all 80 games of his NFL career. He has recorded 487 tackles and 17 interceptions with the Titans.
Not everybody is able to go to the Tennessee Titans games or come to training camp, so this will give an opportunity for some kids to meet the players one-on-one and have a dream come true for some of the kids, Griffin said.
Registration will be between 8:30 and 9:45 a.m., and the camp will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Players are asked to bring cleats and extra water if they are able to do so.
People with questions about the camp should contact Shantel Spence at (615) 525-6403 or Brandon Williams at (404) 449-6050.
